I recently bought a Cannon Powershot A590, which I really love. It's small, but stylish looking and takes great pictures. For something so small, I love how closely I can zoom in on faraway objects. The only drawback I see is that it takes double AA batteries and goes through them really fast. So you really do need to make sure you have a lot of batteries if going on vacation.
